Company History

May 1917 This company was founded with the name of Chugoku Chemical Industry Limited Partnership in Naka-ku, Hiroshima City and started manufacturing marine paints.
May 1923 The company was reorganized as Chugoku Marine Paints, Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CMP), capitalized at 250 thousand yen.
July 1949 CMP was listed on the Hiroshima Stock Exchange (which merged with the Tokyo Stock Exchange in March 2000).
October 1961 CMP was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (listed on the 1st Section in September 1984).
March 1962 CMP built its Shiga Factory in Yasu gun (now Yasu City), Shiga Prefecture
October 1973 CMP established a local and consolidated subsidiary, Chugoku Marine Paints (Hong Kong), Ltd., in Hong Kong.
March 1975 CMP built its Kyushu Factory in Kanzaki gun, Saga Prefecture.
April 1980 CMP established a local and consolidated subsidiary, Chugoku Marine Paints (Singapore) Pte., Ltd., in Singapore.
March 1983 CMP established a local and consolidated subsidiary, Chugoku Paints (UK) Ltd. (Former trade name: Camrex Chugoku Ltd.) in England. 
October 1985 CMP established a consolidated subsidiary, Ohtake-Meishin Chemical Co., Ltd. (Former trade name: Ohtake Chemical Co., Ltd.), in Ohtake City, Hiroshima Prefecture.
August 1987 CMP established consolidated subsidiaries, Chugoku Paints Marine Sales Co., Ltd. (Former trade name: Chugoku Marine Paints Sales Co., Ltd.), Chugoku Paints Industry & Sales Co., Ltd. (Former trade name: Chugoku Paint Kanto Sales Co., Ltd.).
January 1988 CMP participated in the management of a paint manufacturing company, Chugoku Paints B.V. (Former trade name: Camrex Holdings B.V.) in Holland and made it a consolidated subsidiary.
October 1988  CMP established a local and consolidated subsidiary, Chugoku Samwha Paints, Ltd. in Korea. 
July 1990 CMP established a local and consolidated subsidiary, Chugoku Paints (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia.
October 1990 CMP established a local and consolidated subsidiary, CMP Coatings, Inc. (Former trade name: Chugoku America Holdings, Inc.), in USA.
January 1993 CMP established a local and consolidated subsidiary, Chugoku Marine Paints (Shanghai), Ltd., in Shanghai, China.
March 1994 CMP built its Research Center in Ohtake City, Hiroshima Prefecture
October 1997 CMP established a local and consolidated subsidiary, Chugoku Marine Paints (Guangdong), Ltd., in Guangdong, China.
June 1999 CMP's headquarter office moved to Ohtake City, Hiroshima Prefecture.
January 2002 CMP merged two consolidated subsidiaries, Chugoku Paints Marine Sales Co., Ltd and Chugoku Paints Industry & Sales Co., Ltd.
November 2006 The local and consolidated subsidiary, Chugoku Marine Paints (Shanghai), Ltd. relocated its factory within the same district in Shanghai.
November 2007 Relocation of Tokyo head office
March 2010 Chugoku Marine Paints (Shanghai), Ltd. opened its second factory
